Hawks activate, assign Mashinter

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks activated forward Brandon Mashinter from the injured reserve and assigned him to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL after he cleared waivers on Monday.

Mashinter suffered an undisclosed injury near the end of the team's preseason schedule and was placed on the injured reserve on Oct. 7.

The Blackhawks acquired Mashinter in a trade with the New York Rangers in December of 2013. He had 14 goals and 14 assists and was a minus-8 in 47 games with the IceHogs last season.
