BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Jay Cutler's streak is over.
After making it through 11 training camp practices without an interception (in team drills), Cutler tossed his first interception of the summer on Saturday when he fired a ball into the arms of inside linebacker Shea McClellin.
“I’m glad. Linebackers finally got one, so that’s good, and I finally got one as well,” McClellin said. “I think that’s good; you want to break that streak. You don’t want to have no interceptions as a defense.”
McClellin joked that he baited Cutler on the play.
“I think, actually, I don't even think he saw me,” McClellin said. “I talked to him after and he said he didn't see me. Just lying in the weeds there and saw the ball there and just grabbed it.”
Cutler’s pick was about the only memorable moment on Saturday.
In front of another light crowd at Olivet Nazarene University, head coach John Fox had the players practice in shells coming off of their first preseason game against the Miami Dolphins.
Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (calf strain), tight end Chris Pantale (illness) and Daniel Thomas (knee) did not participate. Offensive tackle Jason Weaver suffered a stinger but later returned to the practice field.
The Bears break camp on Sunday following a 9:35 a.m. CT practice.
