Zay Jones on gravity-defying move: 'It's really not that complicated'

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Not that hard? Sure, Zay. Whatever you say.

Buffalo Bills rookie receiver Zay Jones caught the attention of social media this week when, after diving for a deep pass in a 16-10 win Sunday over the Kansas City Chiefs, he stood back up to his feet with gravity-defying ease.

With a smile in the Bills' locker room Wednesday, Jones brushed off speculation that he used superpowers to lift himself off the ground.

"It's really not that complicated of a move," he said. "It's more just your momentum. It's a cool way to be an athlete."

Jones is a second-round rookie from East Carolina who has started nine games this season for Buffalo, catching 23 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns.

Floating back to his feet is nothing new.

"I did it in high school, I did in college," he said. "I usually do it in pregame warmups for us. It just unfolded the way it did. It was pretty crazy. I had no idea it was on social media like that. Everybody was texting and calling me and going, 'Bro, you're going viral right now.' I was like, 'What did I do?' I saw it and it was pretty crazy.

"Everyone was texting me like, 'Yo, you're getting compared to Michael Jackson right now.' People were like, 'You're possessed.' I was like, 'Whoa, what's going on?'"

Jones joked Wednesday that his viral video has sparked the "Zay Jones challenge" in the Bills' locker room, with several of his teammates attempting to duplicate his apparent levitation. He specifically mentioned the failure of fellow second-round rookie offensive tackle Dion Dawkins to match Jones' move, as well as a more commendable effort from first-round rookie cornerback Tre'Davious White.

"I'm gonna trademark it," Jones said. "I'm enjoying it."
