OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Ryan Mallett and the Baltimore Ravens' offense finally clicked Thursday.
Shaking off a rocky first week, Mallett produced his best practice of the weeklong training camp. He looked comfortable in the pocket and consistently hit receivers on their hands. His decision-making was decisive, allowing him to find the open man.
Mallett is filling in with the starters while Joe Flacco recovers from back injury. Mallett looked shaky last week, especially after he threw at least five interceptions Friday.
On Thursday, he threw a strike to tight end Larry Donnell over the middle of the field. He then hit running back Terrance West in stride on a wheel route. Finally, Mallett placed a pass over the shoulder of Jeremy Maclin down the sideline.
"I think Ryan has played well," coach John Harbaugh said. "He had really a not a good day [last week], and I saw a lot of stories about that. I see he’s having some pretty good days, and I haven’t really seen anything written about that. What’s up with that?"
Mallett, 29, joined the Ravens in December 2015 and led Baltimore to an upset victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. In six games for the Ravens, he has connected on 59.2 percent of his passes, throwing two touchdowns and three interceptions.
The Ravens re-signed Mallett in March to a 1-year, $2 million deal.
"I think he’s doing a good job and he’s had some good days," Harbaugh said.
