TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians addressed the media before Monday's practice. Here is a recap of what Arians discussed:
Arians said if safety Tyrann Mathieu doesn't play Thursday night he won't play in Week 1 on "Monday Night Football." But he did not say whether Mathieu would play against the Chargers this week.
The Cardinals' starters won't play Thursday at San Diego, Arians said.
Rookie Logan Thomas will start and play the entire game.
After looking at the film, Arians thought the Cards' pass rush was "decent." Following Sunday night's game, Arians said he was concerned with the pass rush.
Arians said linebacker Kevin Minter was full-go for practice this week but guard Jonathan Cooper is still nursing his turf toe. Both were expected to practice, Arians said.
Veteran tackle Max Starks was cut by the Cardinals on Monday but bringing him back in September is a possibility if he goes unclaimed.
On the wide open deep pass from Carson Palmer to Michael Floyd that was thrown ahead of Floyd, Arians said Floyd slowed down but the ball was still overthrown. "It was a bad throw."
There are at least five jobs available to be won Thursday night in San Diego. "It's highly competitive and it's a big night for a lot of them."
