A look at what the Colts have done in the penalty department through seven games:
Totals:
59 penalties, 14 declined, 398 yards, 61 nullified yards, 14 first downs, 6 stalled drives
Primary offenders:
RT Winston Justice: 5 penalties (and 1 declined) for 20 yards
CB Cassius Vaughn: 4 penalties (and 1 declined) for 35 yards and 3 first downs
CB Justin King: 4 penalties (and 2 declined) for 24 yards and 2 first downs
Two others have three.
Primary offenses:
Offensive holding: 10 penalties (and 3 declined) for 63 yards, 29 nullified yards and 3 stalled drives
Defensive pass interference: 8 penalties (and 2 declined) for 78 yards and 6 first downs
False starts: 8 penalties for 40 yards and 1 stalled drive
Thoughts:
King was released after four games, so a top offender is gone. The penalty yardage for a team as young as this one doesn't seem that bad to me, but the Colts have drawn nearly 10.5 flags a game which does far too much to stop any rhythm or flow.
