Four kickers from the ACC were selected Monday as semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, given every year to the best kicker in the nation.
They are:
Casey Barth, North Carolina
Chandler Catanzaro, Clemson
Dustin Hopkins, Florida State
Ross Martin, Duke
Hopkins was a finalist for the award last season. This year, he leads all kickers in scoring with 103 points, the third-highest total of any player in the nation. Hopkins needs to make seven field goals to break the NCAA career record set by Georgia’s Billy Bennett from 2000-03.
Martin is one of three freshmen to make the list.
All four kickers rank in the Top 10 in the ACC in scoring -- Barth has 85 points, Martin has 83 and Catanzaro has 79.
