Thursday night saw the last two American women in the US Open bracket end their runs, with Jessica Pegula falling to Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff losing to Elena Rybakina. Pegula (+550 before elimination) and Gauff (+285) had been heavily backed by the betting public in the futures markets at U.S. sportsbooks.
That sets up a showdown between Sabalenka and Rybakina in the final Saturday, with the former coming in as the -138 favorite to the latter's +113 as of Friday night. Sabalenka entered the tournament favored at +320, with Rybakina at a longer 14-1.
On the men's side, Alexander Zverev will be favored to capture his second Grand Slam of the year and his career Sunday at the US Open men's final, opening at -132 on Friday night. Ben Shelton will be standing in his way as the underdog, coming in at +109.
Zverev entered the tournament with second-best title odds of +300 behind Carlos Alcaraz (+250) but has not been an overly popular pick in the futures markets. On the contrary, there is some lingering liability with the American player, as Caesars and DraftKings say they will lose in the US Open winner market if Shelton wins his first career Grand Slam title Sunday.
