No. 18 South Carolina women beat Dayton 65-55
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Tyasha Harris scored 12 of her season-high 24 points in the third quarter and No. 18 South Carolina beat Dayton 65-55 on Wednesday night.
Harris made South Carolina's first 3-pointer of the game with 1:29 left in the third quarter and she finished with 12 of the Gamecocks' 23 points in the quarter.
South Carolina allowed just four points over the final 10 minutes.
Nelly Perry added 10 points for South Carolina (4-3), which had a 22-3 advantage in bench points and a 32-18 edge for points in the paint. Mikiah Herbert Harrigan had nine points, six rebounds and four blocks. The Gamecocks were just 3 of 12 from distance, but outrebounded Dayton 41-30 and attempted 18 more free throws.
Julia Chandler scored 15 points for Dayton (2-4). Lauren Cannatelli added 13 points and Araion Bradshaw 11.
It was tied at 30 at halftime as both teams shot below 40 percent.
