No. 23 Syracuse women beat Morgan State 90-61
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Alexis Peterson scored 17 points, Brianna Butler added 15 and No. 23 Syracuse made 13 3-pointers in a 90-61 victory over Morgan State on Monday night.
Syracuse has won 70 straight non-conference games at home, with its last loss coming on Dec. 22, 2006.
The Orange used an 11-0 run in a decisive 23-6 second quarter to take a 42-27 halftime lead. Syracuse made six 3-pointers in the quarter, including three straight by Brittney Sykes, Jade Phillips and Butler.
Briana Day and Sykes added 11 points apiece for Syracuse (2-1). The Orange made 13 of 43 3-pointers, with five by Butler.
It was the most points scored by Syracuse since Dec. 1, 2014 against Vermont.
Tykyrah Williams had 22 points and seven rebounds for Morgan State (1-3). Braennan Farrar added 22 points and seven boards. The Lady Bears were held to 20-of-69 shooting (29 percent) and turned the ball over 21 times.
