Williams leads No. 15 Texas A&M to 67-55 win over SMU
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Courtney Williams scored 16 points and Courtney Walker added 15 to help No. 15 Texas A&M beat SMU 67-55 on Monday.
Khaalia Hillsman added 12 points for the Aggies (7-2), who raced out to a 41-28 halftime lead. SMU (3-5) was down 52-35 with 3:35 left in the third quarter before scoring 13 of the next 16 points to come within 55-48 at the end of the period. Texas A&M used a quick 6-0 burst to put the game away early in the fourth.
Ashley Gibson scored 17 points, hitting four 3-pointers, to lead the Mustangs. Alicia Froling had 14 points and 21 rebounds, tying the school record for boards in a game. She matched Felicia Bluitt and Christine Elliott, who finished with 21 rebounds in a game in 1986 and 2009, respectively.
The game was the Aggies' third annual elementary school day game and drew just over 8,000 fans, the seventh-largest crowd for a women's game at the school and the biggest since 2011-12.
