No. 22 West Virginia women cruise past Iowa State 82-57
AMES, Iowa -- Katrina Pardee and Teana Muldrow each tied season highs with four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points apiece as No. 22 West Virginia cruised to an 82-57 win over Iowa State on Tuesday night.
Lanay Montgomery scored 14 with eight rebounds, while Bria Holmes and Tynice Martin added 13 points each for West Virginia, which secured the third seed, and a first-round bye, in the Big 12 tournament. The Mountaineers will face sixth-seeded Kansas State (18-11, 8-10) on Saturday. Holmes finished with eight assists.
West Virginia (23-8, 12-6) tied its season-high -- set in last Saturday's 82-48 win over then 22nd-ranked Oklahoma State -- with 13 made 3s on 23 attempts.
Iowa State (13-16, 5-13) shot just 35 percent (19 of 54) from the field and was outrebounded 40-26.
Seanna Johnson led the Cyclones with 21 points and 14 rebounds, both career highs. Jadda Buckley scored 14 with six assists.
Iowa State will be the No. 8 seed, and face ninth-seeded Texas Tech, in the first round of the Big 12 tournament on Friday.
