No. 25 Colorado State women win 74-56, run win streak to 23
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Keyora Wharry and Jamie Patrick scored 15 points each and No. 25 Colorado State clinched at least a share of the Mountain West Conference regular-season title and extended its school-record win streak to 23 straight with a 74-56 victory over Nevada on Saturday.
Elin Gustavsson added 13 points and Ellen Nystrom had nine assists for the Rams (26-1, 16-0), who were ranked this week for the first time since Nov. 18, 2002.
Stephanie Schmid scored 13 points, Riana Everidge 11 with nine rebounds and Teige Zeller 10 with eight boards for the Wolf Pack (5-22, 4-12), who have lost seven of their last eight games and 10 straight to Colorado State. Nevada was 1 of 10 from the arc and gave up 23 points on 20 turnovers.
The Rams closed the third quarter on a 21-3 run to lead 64-37 and coasted from there.
Colorado State took a 35-27 lead at halftime behind 13 points from Wharry on her 6-of-7 shooting.
The Rams can take the MWC crown outright with a victory at home over second-place Fresno State (14-2) on Tuesday.
