Rutgers uses big 2nd half to beat Penn State 71-51
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Kahleah Copper scored 23 points on 9-of-21 shooting as No. 24 Rutgers used a big second half to pull away from Penn State 71-51 on Saturday.
Rutgers' defense held Penn State to 22 second-half points and forced a season-high 38 turnovers overall -- its most in at least a dozen years.
Rutgers had 22 steals, one shy of the school record, with Syessense Davis getting 10.
Betnijah Laney entered the game ranked second nationally in double-doubles and finished with 18 points and nine rebounds for Rutgers (12-4, 3-2 Big Ten). Tyler Scaife added 14 points. The Scarlet Knights hit just 28-of-71 field goals (39.4 percent).
Lindsey Spann led Penn State (3-13, 0-5) with 18 points but had 11 turnovers. Sierra Moore had 12 points and Candice Agee added 10.
Penn State dropped its sixth straight game and faces No. 19 Nebraska on Thursday.
