Nebraska Cornhuskers @ Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama scores late to upset No. 12 Nebraska 53-51
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Nikki Hegstetter scooped a loose ball off the floor to score with less than two seconds to play and Alabama survived a missed final shot to upset 12th-ranked Nebraska 53-51 on Sunday.
Hegstetter had two baskets and two offensive boards by that point but was in the right spot to scoop an Ashley Williams miss off the floor and toss in her own shot as the Crimson Tide (8-3) handed Nebraska (7-1) its first loss just four days after the Huskers stunned No. 9 Duke.
Tear'a Laudermill's 3-pointer at the buzzer sailed left of the rim.
Karyla Middlebrook led the Crimson Tide with 14 points despite 3-of-12 shooting in the defensive contest. Hegstetter finished with seven and reserve Meoshonti Knight's only 3-pointer was critical, erasing the last Husker lead with 8:18 to play.
Laudermill scored 25, including a 3 to tie at 51-51 with 18 seconds left. Laudermill had seven of Nebraska's 8 3-pointers.
