No. 15 Duke women cruise past Wake Forest 70-53
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Azura Stevens tied her career best with 24 points and grabbed six rebounds as No. 15 Duke led most of the way to beat Wake Forest 70-53 on Thursday.
Duke (17-6, 8-2 ACC) used a 13-4 run to put the game comfortably out of reach at 64-45 on Stevens' basket with 4:48 left. The freshman had 16 first-half points as the Blue Devils built a 37-24 lead.
Wake Forest (10-14, 1-9) closed within 43-33 with 13:22 left after Duke missed seven straight field goals, but the Demon Deacons would get no closer.
Elizabeth Williams added 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals for Duke. Rebecca Greenwell and Ka'lia Johnson had 11 points each.
Dearica Hamby led Wake Forest with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Demon Deacons were 7 of 13 from 3-point range but had 23 turnovers.
