No. 18 DePaul beats Texas-Pan American 93-70
CHICAGO -- Megan Podkowa scored 20 points to help No. 18 DePaul bounce back from an opening loss with a 93-70 victory over Texas-Pan American on Saturday in the second round of the Blue Demons' season-opening tournament, the Maggie Dixon Classic.
Podkowa was scoreless in the Blue Demons (1-1) opening night loss to No. 5 Texas A&M on Friday.
The Blue Demons got 31 points from their bench in the win, shooting 45 percent from the field. Defensively, DePaul held Texas-Pan American to 39 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers.
Texas-Pan American (1-1) knocked off New Mexico in its tournament opener, 61-59.
DePaul faces New Mexico in the tournament finale Monday.
The tournament is named for the former coach at Army, who died a month shy of her 29th birthday after leading Army to its first NCAA tournament appearance in 2006.
