No. 14 LSU holds off Mississippi State 65-56
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Shanece McKinney didn't miss a shot en route to a career-high 19 points to lead No. 14 LSU to a 65-56 win over Mississippi State on Thursday.
McKinney had 7 baskets and 5 free throws as the Tigers (17-4, 6-2) heated up in the second half. After making just 8 of 22 shots in the first half, when they trailed 26-21, the Tigers went 17 of 26 (63 percent) in the second half.
Raigyne Moncrief added 17 points and Jeanne Kenney 13 with 7 assists for LSU.
Katia May led the Bulldogs (15-7, 2-6) with 12 points.
McKinney had 6 points in an early second half run of 12-3 that gave LSU the lead for good at 41-34. Dominique Dillingham hit a 3 that pulled MSU within 58-54 with 2:37 left but the rally stalled out.
After coming 15 turnovers in the first half, LSU finished with 19.
