Ibiam, No. 21 South Carolina beat Seton Hall 88-67
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Elem Ibiam scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead No. 21 South Carolina to an 88-67 win over Seton Hall Sunday.
After Jasmine McCall's jumper with 15:59 remaining pulled Seton Hall (3-1) within six, 49-43, South Carolina went on a 12-3 run, spurred on by back-to-back 3-pointers by Tiffany Welch, to open up a 57-43 lead with 12:48 to play.
Janee Johnson trimmed the Gamecocks' lead to 11 points with a three-point play about six minutes late but Ibiam then rattled off seven consecutive points in a 12-2 surge as South Carolina pushed its lead to 84-63 with 2:38 left.
Khadijah Sessions scored 17 points while Tiffany Mitchell and Aleighsa Welch added 15 apiece for South Carolina, which shot 57.8 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range.
Tabitha Richardson-Smith paced Seton Hall with 24 points and eight rebounds. Ka-Deidre Simmons added 19 points.
