Perkins leads Stars past Storm, 88-81
SAN ANTONIO -- Jia Perkins scored 32 points and the San Antonio Stars beat the Seattle Storm 88-81 on Saturday night.
Perkins was 11 of 18 from the floor, 8 of 8 from the line and had five assists in the game between the two worst teams in the Western Conference. Kayla McBride added 20 points and Sophia Young-Malcolm had 14.
San Antonio (7-16) got a 3-pointer early from McBride and jumped out to an 18-6 lead. McBride's 3 just before the end of the first made it 27-10, and the Stars led at the half 43-34.
Seattle (5-17) used a 14-5 run at the start of the third to draw even at 48, but San Antonio responded with an 8-2 spurt and led by five at the end of the quarter. Jewell Loyd's jumper cut it to three, but Seattle got no closer down the stretch.
Crystal Langhorne led Seattle with 29 points.
