The Indian Super League has kicked off, and it's done so with an absolute thriller. Here's a quick recap of how the fixtures from the first few games have panned out, with the latest match report up first.
Churchill Brothers 2-1 Mumbai City FC
Churchill Brothers made their ISL debut a memorable one, as they beat Mumbai City FC 2-1 at Fatorda on Sunday evening.
Manolo Marquez's return to Fatorda on his managerial debut with Mumbai City went far from the Spaniard's plan. Mumbai City were lacklustre in the first half, and conceded early in the second half, when Gaurav Bora looped a header past TP Rehenesh to give Churchill the lead.
Churchill then doubled their lead in the 87th minute through Sebastian Gutierrez, before Sergio Llamas pulled one back for Mumbai City in stoppage time. That Llamas goal was little more than a consolation for Mumbai City, who really didn't do enough in the attacking areas to deserve a win in this game.
Inter Kashi 0-2 Kerala Blasters
Kerala Blasters opened their ISL campaign with a 2-0 win over Inter Kashi at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune, as they continued their run of excellent form under coach Ashley Westwood.
It was a bit of an even contest in the early exchanges, but it was the Blasters who broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, as Korou Singh was sent through down the right and he ran to the byline before cutting it back to Vibin Mohanan who lashed a finish from close range.
Inter Kashi huffed and puffed, but never really found the quality in the final third to trouble the Blasters. As they pushed numbers forward in second-half stoppage time, Kashi got caught on the break, as the Blasters finished the game off, thanks to a calm finish from Andre Green.
Kerala Blasters are the second team to post a win in the ISL this season.
FC Goa 1-1 Chennaiyin FC
FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC played out a 1-1 draw in the second match of the Indian Super League 2026-27. Irfan Yadwad gave Chennaiyin FC the lead in the 64th minute before Christian Borrego's headed equaliser in the 75th minute ensured FC Goa came away with a point in their season opener.
The first half saw both teams attempt to build from the back and work their way into the final third, but neither could find the breakthrough. Chennaiyin FC broke the deadlock in the 64th minute when Irfan drove a right-footed effort into the far corner to put the visitors ahead.
The visitors continued to search for a second goal, with Ramon Taque testing the Goa defence with a powerful effort towards the bottom-left corner from a tight angle on the right. Goa responded by increasing the pressure on the Chennaiyin defence and came close to equalising in the 70th minute when Ramon unleashed a powerful curling effort from long range, only for the ball to strike the post. Udanta Singh also threatened, with his attempt rattling the crossbar as the hosts pushed for a goal.
Goa eventually found their breakthrough in the 75th minute. Following a foul on Udanta in the attacking half, the Gaurs won a free kick, which Christian Borrego converted with a well-directed header into the bottom-right corner to bring the scores level at 1-1.
The hosts continued to press for a winner, with Chiki attempting another effort from inside the box in the 79th minute. Chennaiyin also threatened at the other end, as Ramon rose to meet a cross from the left but sent his header over the crossbar with the goalkeeper off his line. Both teams continued to look for a decisive goal in the closing stages, but neither could find a winner.
Bengaluru FC 3-2 SC Delhi
The 2026-27 ISL season began with a cracker of a game at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, as Bengaluru FC beat SC Delhi 3-2, with a late winner from Menno Koch eventually proving the difference between the two teams.
It was a lively encounter right from the off, with both attacks on top. BFC's combinations between Mihailo Perovic and Borja Martinez were dangerous right from the off, and it led to the opening goal in the 22nd minute, although this time, it was a layoff from Ryan Williams to Martinez that gave him his first goal of the game.
Delhi hit straight back, just four minutes later, as a lovely through ball from Juan Pena evaded Sana Singh and Rodriguinho pounced on it to then round Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and tap into an empty net. Pena was at the heart of things again four minutes later, as he flew past Roshan Singh on the left, and saw his low cross turned into his own net by Koch.
The remainder of the first half saw both sides have a few other chances, notably Perovic hitting the crossbar for Bengaluru, and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu saving from Sanatomba Singh.
In the second half though, there was barely a contest. It was all Bengaluru. Williams missed from a yard out and then was denied by a stunning one-on-one save by Nora Fernandes. But BFC were pounding the door down and got their reward in the 75th minute, when Perovic's through ball set Martinez away, and he smashed an unerring finish past Nora.
There was more drama to come, as Soham Varshneya danced and ran rings around the Delhi defence, and it was he who set up the winner, a cross from the right, that big Koch rose high to meet and slot a header past Nora.
