Clay leads Missouri State to 76-75 OT victory over Southern Illinois
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- — Donovan Clay scored 24 points and hit the game-winning jump shot with five seconds left in overtime as Missouri State knocked off Southern Illinois 76-75 on Wednesday night.
Clay added a pair of free throws with a second left to seal it. Xavier Johnson hit a 3-pointer for Southern Illinois to cap the scoring.
Clay added seven rebounds for the Bears (13-9, 5-6 Missouri Valley Conference). Chance Moore and Alston Mason scored 13 points apiece. Moore's layup with 18 seconds left in regulation ended an 8-0 surge to force overtime tied 63-all.
Johnson led the way for the Salukis (14-8, 6-5) with 28 points and six assists. Trent Brown added 19 points for Southern Illinois. In addition, Troy D'Amico finished with 15 points and six rebounds.
