ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- — Maleeck Harden-Hayes' 16 points helped UNC Wilmington defeat UNC Asheville 83-66 on Saturday.
Harden-Hayes added eight rebounds for the Seahawks (2-0). Trazarien White scored 13 points and added six rebounds. Shykeim Phillips shot 5 of 11 from the field and 2 for 3 from the line to finish with 12 points, while adding five steals.
Drew Pember finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the Bulldogs (0-2). Nicholas McMullen added 10 points for UNC Asheville. In addition, Toyaz Solomon had nine points.
Both teams play again on Tuesday. UNC Wilmington hosts Columbia International and UNC Asheville hosts Carolina University.
