Gardner-Webb wins 78-77 against UNC Asheville on Aldridge 3 with 7.1 seconds left

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- — Quest Aldridge hit a 3-pointer with 7.1 seconds left and Julien Soumaoro scored 16 points and Gardner-Webb defeated UNC Asheville 78-77 on Saturday.

After Aldridge connected from the top of the key, Drew Pember drove into the paid for UNC Ashville but Caleb Robinson ensured the win with a block.

Soumaoro shot 5 for 9 (4 for 8 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free throw line for the Runnin' Bulldogs (14-15, 9-5 Big South Conference). Aldridge scored 13 points, going 5 of 9 (3 for 6 from 3-point range). Ademide Badmus finished 6 of 10 from the floor to finish with 12 points.

Toyaz Solomon led the way for the Bulldogs (19-11, 11-4) with 16 points. UNC Asheville also got 16 points from Fletcher Abee. In addition, Josh Banks finished with 15 points.
