Taylor, Coleman power Texas A&M past Abilene Christian 77-58
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- — Wade Taylor IV scored 17 points, Henry Coleman III had a double-double and Texas A&M pulled away in the second half to defeat Abilene Christian 77-58 on Friday night.
After leading by five points at halftime, a 3-pointer by Taylor pushed the Aggies' lead to 49-35 with 15:24 left in the game. Texas A&M led by double digits the rest of the way. A 3-pointer by Dexter Dennis for the final margin was the Aggies' largest lead.
Coleman, Dennis and Tyrece Radford all scored 13 points for the Aggies (2-0). Coleman completed his double-double with 11 rebounds.
Airion Simmons scored 15 points and Immanuel Allen had 14 for the Wildcats (1-1).
Texas A&M got off to a strong start with leads of 15-3 and 20-10. In the final minute of the half, Tobias Cameron made two free throws to get Abilene Christian with 32-29 before Dennis made a layup to give the Aggies a 34-29 halftime lead.
Texas A&M shot 52% from the field and had a 35-24 advantage on the boards. The Aggies had only seven assists.
