LAS VEGAS -- Tommy Rutherford tied his career high with 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting as UC Irvine easily beat Louisiana-Lafayette 92-67 on Tuesday.

Collin Welp had 15 points for UC Irvine (4-4). Eyassu Worku added 13 points, and John Edgar Jr. had 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Rutherford scored 10 points in the first half as UCI led 40-33.

P.J. Hardy had 18 points for the Ragin' Cajuns (4-3). Kobe Julien added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Trajan Wesley had 11 points and six assists. Cedric Russell, whose 16 points per game heading into the matchup ranked second on the Ragin' Cajuns, was 0 of 7.
