Hayes’ last-second layup lifts Merrimack over Mass.-Lowell
LOWELL, Mass. -- Juvaris Hayes scored on a layup with 1 second remaining to lift Merrimack to a 60-58 win over UMass Lowell in the River Hawk Invitational on Saturday.
Hayes had 10 points, eight assists and six rebounds for Merrimack (2-2). Jordan Minor added eight rebounds. Ziggy Reid had 11 points off the bench.
Christian Lutete had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the River Hawks (2-4). Obadiah Noel added six rebounds.
The River Hawk Invitational concludes Sunday when Merrimack takes on Jacksonville and UMass Lowell faces Dartmouth.
