JONESBORO, Ark. -- Nijal Pearson had 21 points as Texas State beat Arkansas State 84-74 on Thursday night.

Alonzo Sule had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Texas State (20-5, 9-3 Sun Belt Conference). Jaylen Shead added 17 points. Alex Peacock had nine rebounds for the visiting team.

Tre'Larenz Nottingham, who was second on the Bobcats in scoring heading into the matchup with 14 points per game, scored 7 points on 1-of-12 shooting.

Ty Cockfield scored a career-high 39 points for the Red Wolves (10-15, 4-8). Tristin Walley added 12 points. Grantham Gillard had seven rebounds.

The Bobcats improve to 2-0 against the Red Wolves this season. Texas State defeated Arkansas State 77-64 on Jan. 19. Texas State faces Arkansas-Little Rock on the road on Saturday. Arkansas State faces Texas-Arlington at home on Saturday.
