DELAND, Fla. -- Christiaan Jones had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead Stetson to a season-opening 116-66 victory over Johnson University (Fla.) on Wednesday night.
Junior college transfer Ricardo Lynch added 17 points off the bench for the Hatters. Raine McKeython had 11 points and Keith Matthews and Leo Goodman each chipped in 10.
Garriott Jones scored 14 points and Anthony Young had 11 to lead Johnson.
Christiaan Jones scored all nine of his first-half points during an 11-2 surge midway through the first half to help the Hatters build a 60-34 halftime advantage. Jones' 3-point play early in the second half stretched Stetson's lead to 81-43, and his last shot of the night was a dunk that made it 102-55 with 5:45 to play.
It was the Hatters first meeting with Johnson University, a member of the NCCAA and located in Kissimmee, Fla.
