Savannah State dominates Maryland-Eastern Shore 87-59
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Javaris Jenkins scored 17 points and Alante Fenner added 15 with 11 rebounds and six assists as Savannah State rolled to an easy 87-59 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday.
Jenkins hit 5 of 13 from distance. Fenner made three from beyond the arc as the Tigers kept firing away from deep, hitting 15 of 48 shots. Maryland-Eastern Shore was 5 of 23 from long range.
Zach Sellers also had 15 points while dishing out five assists. Jahir Cabeza added 13 points and Dexter McClanahan chipped in 12 for Savannah State (5-13, 2-1 MEAC), which has won two of the last three after breaking a six-game losing streak.
Cabeza slammed home two straight dunks to give Savannah State its first lead, 30-29 with 2:46 remaining in the first period. The Tigers led 35-34 at the break and never trailed in the second half, pushing the advantage to 69-54 following a McClanahan 3-pointer with 6:11 remaining.
Tyler Jones led the Hawks (5-14, 1-3) with 20 points.
