Kendley scores 27, Morgan St. beats Coppin St. 69-56
BALTIMORE -- Tiwian Kendley scored 27 points and Phillip Carr had his 14th double-double of the season to help Morgan State cruise to a 69-56 win over Coppin State on Monday night.
Carr finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Kendley had a steal and a dunk and then made a layup to spark an 11-0 run that made it 23-13 when Khalil Gracey hit a 3-pointer and Morgan State (11-17, 7-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led the rest of the way. Another dunk by Kendley made it 37-23 at intermission and Gracey's layup midway through the second half gave the Bears their biggest lead at 63-39.
Cedric Council had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Karonn Davis and Taqwain Drummond scored 10 points apiece for Coppin State (5-25, 5-10). The Eagles shot 25.9 percent (15 of 58) from the field.
