FGCU closes with 8-0 run to beat Jacksonville 68-62
FORT MEYERS, Fla. -- Zach Johnson scored 18 points, Bandon Goodwin scored 16 and Florida Gulf Coast defeated Jacksonville 68-62 on Saturday night.
Florida Gulf Coast (16-8, 7-0 Atlantic Sun) ended the game with an 8-0 run after JD Notae put the Dolphins ahead 62-60 with 3:19 to play. Jacksonville missed its last eight shots.
Brandon Goodwin made back-to-back layups and FGCU led 60-49 with 6:52 left before Jacksonville took the lead with a 13-0 run with Notae scoring nine.
Christian Terrell added 11 points for the Eagles who outrebounded Jacksonville (11-13, 5-2) by a 46-31 margin. Michael Gilmore had 10 rebounds. FGCU was 27 of 59 (46 percent) from the field but just 1 of 9 from 3-point range and made 13 of 20 from the foul line.
Jace Hogan led the Dolphins with 23 points, shooting 10 of 15, and Notae scored 15.
