Akoh has career-high 34 as Montana gets by N. Colorado 89-80
MISSOULA, Mont. -- Jamar Akoh scored a career-high 34 points with eight rebounds as Montana slipped past Northern Colorado 89-80 for its fourth straight Big Sky Conference win on Saturday night.
Montana (11-5, 4-0) remained undefeated at home (7-0). The Grizzlies have won six of their last seven with the only loss being at Washington, 66-63.
The Grizzles had a 43-28 halftime advantage.
Northern Colorado trailed 59-38 before scoring 12 unanswered points to close to 59-50 with 11:39 left. The Bears stayed within striking distance, trailing 83-77 with 2:04 left after Jonah Radebaugh drilled a 3-pointer. Akoh and Ahmaad Rorie made six straight free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
Akoh, whose previous high game was 23 points, made 11 of 16 field goal attempts and was 12 of 16 from the line. Rorie added 18 points and Sayeed Pridgett and Michael Oguine chipped in 12 apiece.
Andre Spight led Northern Colorado (11-6, 2-2) with 26 points.
