Georgia State romps to 90-75 win over South Alabama
ATLANTA -- Isaiah Williams had 23 points and Devin Mitchell drained six from distance for 20 as Georgia State closed out the regular season with a 90-75 win over South Alabama on Saturday afternoon.
D'Marcus Simonds added 21 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
Georgia State (21-10, 12-6), which had already secured the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament starting Wednesday, had lost four of its last five games before rolling over the Jaguars. The Panthers gave top-seeded Louisiana its only conference loss in early February for Georgia State's 10th straight win before dropping the next two.
The Panthers finished the first half on a 13-5 spurt to go into intermission leading 44-35. South Alabama closed to 56-47 before Mitchell responded with three straight treys to lead 65-49 with 12:10 remaining. The Panthers pushed their advantage to 71-51 after Mitchell's fifth from distance.
Rodrick Sikes had 18 points for South Alabama (14-17, 7-11) which finished the regular season with five consecutive losses.
