San Diego beats Loyola Marymount 89-82
LOS ANGELES -- Isaiah Pineiro had a career-high 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting and handed out nine assists to help San Diego beat Loyola Marymount 89-82 on Saturday.
The Toreros (15-7, 6-4 West Coast Conference) led by double digits for most of the second half and Pineiro's jumper with 1:20 left made it 84-69. The Lions (6-15, 1-9) rallied to get as close as five in the final seconds.
San Diego took control in the first half with a 29-5 run capped by a Pineiro free throw at 34-14. The Toreros led by as many as 23 in the first half and went into the break with a 47-31 lead.
Isaiah Wright was 3 of 4 from 3-point range and finished with 15 points for San Diego. Tyler Williams added 11 points and Yauhen Massalski and Olin Carter III scored 10 each.
James Batemon had 25 points, Eli Scott scored 18 and Steven Haney 17 for Loyola Marymount.
