DOVER, Del. -- Dulani Robinson scored 20 points, Marvin Jones had 15 points and 21 rebounds as Texas Southern took control early to beat Delaware State 74-61 on Sunday.

Jones' jumper tied it at 9-all and sparked a 14-3 run the Tigers (1-1) used to build a 30-26 halftime lead. Artem Tavakalyan's dunk put Texas Southern up 64-54 with 4:33 left to play and the Tigers outscored the Hornets (1-1) 13-7 down the stretch.

Jalan McCloud scored 14 points off the bench and Derrick Griffin added 10 points for the Tigers, who outrebounded the Hornets 46-23. Texas Southern was held to 38 percent shooting from the floor but made 19 of 24 free throws (79 percent).

Texas Southern has five graduate transfers on its squad, including Robinson (Pacific) and Jones (a 7-footer from Kent State).

DeAndre Haywood scored 20 points, Devin Morgan had 12 and Kavon Waller added 11 points for Delaware State.
