Wright-Foreman leads Hofstra to upset of Northeastern, 78-73
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Justin Wright-Foreman hit 11 of 15 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers, and tied a career-high with 30 points, Deron Powers converted a 3-point play with 17 seconds left and Hofstra held on to beat Northeastern 78-73 on Saturday.
Brian Bernardi scored 16 points and Powers finished with seven points and six assists for Hofstra (10-11, 2-6 Colonial Athletic Association).
Wright-Foreman scored nine points, including two 3s, during an 18-8 run that made it 65-50 with 7:49 left, but the Huskies scored 12 of the next 13 points to pull within four on a 3-pointer by Alex Murphy about four minute later.
Shawn Occeus hit two 3s during an 8-3 spurt that cut Northeastern's deficit to 73-71 with 47 seconds to go, but Powers' 3-point play and two free throws by Eli Pemberton sealed it.
Williams hit four 3-pointers and finished with 25 points for Northeastern (12-8, 5-3), which has lost three in a row after winning eight straight. Murphy added 18 points and Devon Begley scored 16.
