Evans' career night allows IPFW to cruise past UMass 94-81
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Mo Evans set career highs with 33 points and 13 assists in leading Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne to a 94-81 win against Massachusetts-Lowell on Saturday night.
Evans shot 11 for 17 from the floor, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range, and made all six of his free throws. He entered the game shooting 57.5 percent from the floor. Evans also had five steals.
Bryson Scott scored 14 points, John Konchar and Brett Calhoun each added 11 and Kason Harrell had 10 for IPFW.
Fort Wayne (2-2) built a 36-23 lead in the first half after a 19-6 run and never trailed thereafter. The Mastodons led 49-34 at halftime. Matt Harris' 3 with 17:08 to play brought the River Hawks to within 51-43 but they couldn't get closer.
Ryan Jones led Massachusetts-Lowell (1-3) with 18 points, Jahad Thomas scored 16, Harris had 14 and Tyler Livingston finished with 12.
