HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Dexter Werner scored 14 points and North Dakota State beat Navy 66-59 on Friday in the High Point University Tournament.
Werner was 6-of-9 shooting and had four his team's 10 steals. Tyson Wade, who had a pair of 3-pointers, added 12 points for the Bison (3-0).
Hasan Abdullah was 4 of 8 from 3-point range and scored 12 points for the Midshipmen (1-2). Shawn Anderson, Navy's leading scorer last year who missed the previous game, scored 10 points before fouling out.
Navy had 14 turnovers in first half in falling behind 32-26 then rallied to take a two-point lead on an Abdullah 3-pointer with 7:23 remaining. The lead seesawed before Werner spun in the paint and made a short jumper to go up 57-54 with 1:32 remaining. A.J. Jacobson made six free throws in the final 28 seconds and Paul Miller two more to keep Navy at bay.
