Moon, Walker lead Morehead St. past SIU-Edwardsville 67-54
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Xavier Moon and Jordan Walker scored 16 points apiece and Morehead State rallied after halftime and defeated SIU-Edwardsville 67-54 on Saturday.
Ronnye Beamon scored 10 points for the Eagles (6-10, 2-1 Ohio Valley Conference), who opened the second half on a 10-3 run to grab the lead. Moon hit a pair of 3-pointers during the rally, and Beamon added two baskets. The game remained close until Morehead State edged away over the final five minutes.
Moon made two free throws to stretch the lead to 58-52 with 4:18 remaining, and Jordan Walker hit a 3-pointer with 3:13 to go.
Burak Eslik led the Cougars (5-12, 0-3) with 20 points but made five turnovers.
Morehead State scored 19 points off 22 Cougars turnovers, and also outscored SIU-Edwardsville 30-22 on points in the paint.
