ETSU wins, off to best start since 1990-91
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- T.J. Cromer made five 3-pointers and scored 21 points and East Tennessee State defeated Division-II Limestone 85-57 on Sunday.
A.J. Merriweather added 11 points and Isaac Banks 10 for the Buccanneers, who at 7-1 are off to their best start since 1990-91. Desonta Bradford added eight assists to go with eight points.
Cromer his four consecutive 3-pointers to start a 16-5 run that gave ETSU a 57-40 lead. A 12-0 run, with five points from Julian Walters, made it a 26-point advantage, 74-48, with 5:35 left.
The Bucs shot 50 percent in the first half when it led 41-30 with nine points each from Cromer and Merriweather and eight from Banks.
The Saints (6-2) were led by 12 from Macoumba Kane and 11 from Shaun Stewart.
ETSU owned the boards, 46-26, including 14 on the offensive end, and made 10 of 22 from the arc for 45.5 percent.
