Balance leads UNC Asheville to 92-80 win over Siena
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Raekwon Miller led a balanced attack with 18 points and UNC Asheville defeated Siena 92-80 in its home opener on Sunday.
MaCio Teague added 17 points, Ahmad Thomas and Alec Wnuk had 16 apiece and Kevin Vannatta 10 for the Bulldogs (2-2).
Siena (1-3) scored the opening basket for its only lead and trailed 43-35 at the half.
It was a six-point game with 5:19 to play but Thomas knocked down a pair of 3s around a Siena basket to put the Bulldogs up 84-74 a minute later. Miller's 3 at 2:32 pushed it to 88-75 and Thomas got free for a dunk at 1:36 following a turnover to effectively end it.
Khalil came off the bench to score 16 for the Saints on 6-of-7 shooting. Javion Ogunyemi also had 16. Marquis Wright scored 14 points and Lavon Long 13.
Asheville shot 57.6 percent, Sienna 54.5 and both teams had 28 rebounds.
