CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Christian Keeling scored 19 points and Javis Howard added 18, leading Charleston Southern to a 90-53 win over Columbia International on Tuesday night.
Keeling had a 3-pointer and a layup in the middle of a 19-0 run to give the Buccaneers (1-1) at a 26-7 lead.
It was 39-21 at the half and Keeling opened the second with a jumper followed by two Armel Potter layups to push the lead to 45-21. A 14-0 run soon followed with Cortez Mitchell's tip-in to make it 61-26.
Potter had 14 points and Jamar Martin 12 for Charleston Southern. The Bucs had a 49-28 rebounding advantage, including 21-7 on the offensive end, good for 23 second-chance points. Howard had nine boards, six offensive.
Ryan Gibson led Columbia International (2-3) with 20 points. The Rams had 23 turnovers, which cost them 32 points.
