Memphis cruised past Tulsa, 89-67, into AAC Tourney semis
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Dedric Lawson had 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Ricky Tarrant Jr. scored 21, including five 3-pointers, to help No. 6 seed Memphis beat third-seeded Tulsa 89-67 in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday night.
Memphis (18-14) will face No. 10 seed Tulane (12-21), which upset second-seeded Houston, in the semifinals Saturday.
Trahson Burrell added 19 points and Avery Woodson scored 12 with 10 rebounds for Memphis.
The Tigers converted 10 offensive rebounds into 16 second-chance points in the first half, and despite shooting just 43 percent -- compared to 52 percent shooting by Tulsa -- took a 46-32 lead into the break.
Memphis hit four straight 3s, and a 3-point play by Jeremiah Martin made it 65-41 with 15:01 left and the Tigers cruised from there.
Shaquille Harrison led Tulsa (20-11) with 15 points.
