Southeastern Louisiana cruises over New Orleans, 93-81
HAMMOND, La. -- JaMichael Hawkins hit six 3-pointers and scored 29 points to lead Southeastern Louisiana to a 93-81 win over New Orleans on Wednesday night.
Hawkins finished 9 of 12 overall from the field and hit all five of his free throws. Joshua Filmore added five 3-pointers and 17 points for the Lions (8-19, 6-8 Southland Conference).
Southeastern Louisiana shot 56.7 percent, and the 93 points is its third highest total this season.
Christavious Gill scored 21 points for New Orleans (9-16, 5-9). Nate Frye added 18 and Kevin Hill had 17 for the Privateers.
The Lions did much of their damage in the first half, putting together runs of 14-0 and 19-4 for a 55-24 lead. The Privateers battled back in the second, outscoring Southeastern Louisiana 57-38, but they were done in by the slow start.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday night, but was pushed back to Wednesday due to weather.
