Frye double-double helps Nicholls defeat NAIA Mobile 80-58
THIBODAUX, La. -- Ja'Dante' Frye notched his first career double-double, scoring 21 points with a career-high 10 rebounds as Nicholls came on in the second half to defeat NAIA Mobile 80-58.
The feisty Rams (4-0 in NAIA play) shot 60 percent in the first half to lead 34-30 at halftime. But the Colonels (1-1), after falling behind 36-30 after halftime, righted ship with a 10-0 run over the next 1:48 on 3-pointers from T.J. Carpenter and Luka Kamber, and layups from Frye and Liam Thomas.
Mobile, behind 18 points from James Davis, pulled to a 40-40 tie but Nicholls closed on a 13-5 run over the final 4:42, capping a 50-24 second half. The Colonels made 19 of 32 field goals after halftime (after hitting eight in the first half). Kamber scored 15 and Thomas 11.
Mario Greaves scored 10 points for Mobile, which committed 28 turnovers that gave Nicholls 33 points.
