Utah State beats Texas Rio Grande Valley 94-69
LOGAN, Utah -- Chris Smith had 18 points, seven rebounds and a career-high six assists to help Utah State dominate Texas Rio Grande Valley 94-69 on Monday night in the Global Sports Hoops Showcase.
Jalen Moore and Julion Pearre added 13 points apiece and the Aggies (6-3) used 22 assists in making 36 field goals. Lew Evans and Grayson Moore scored 12 each.
Up by 16 at halftime, Shane Rector sparked a 15-3 run with a jumper and Utah State surged to a 65-39 lead and led by as many as 32 points.
The Aggies outscored the Vaqueros 42-24 in the paint and scored 19 points off of 13 turnovers in ending a two-game skid.
Green and Shaquille Hines each scored 20 for the Vaqueros (3-8), with Green making a career-high 6 of 8 3-pointers.
