LAKE CHARLES, La. -- Anthony Gaines, Jr. scored 18 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and had four steals and two blocks as Division III Louisiana College upset McNeese State 73-70 on Tuesday night.

Raheem Regis had 14 points and Kevin Cottonham added 14 as he made 9 of 10 free throws. Dylan Brewer was 3 of 5 from beyond the arc for 13 points for Louisiana College.

The Wildcats made 28 of 34 free throw attempts.

McNeese State (0-2) held a 40-36 halftime advantage and was ahead 54-46 with 13:31 left in the game. The Wildcats used a 15-5 run and led 61-59 with eight minutes remaining. The Cowboys regained the lead, 68-66 with 2:16 left. Cottonham made two free throws and Brewer nailed a 3-pointer for a 71-68 lead. Cottonham made two more free throws with 11 seconds left to seal the upset.

Jamaya Burr had 15 points and Lance Potier added 11 for McNeese State (0-2).
