Tennessee Tech rips Piedmont College, 110-72
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Aleksa Jugovic scored a career-high 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting and added five assists to help lead Tennessee Tech to a 110-72 win over Piedmont College in the season opener on Saturday night.
Hakeem Rogers finished with 18 points and Torrance Rowe added 15 for the Golden Eagles, which topped the 100-point plateau for the first time in almost two years.
Tennessee Tech was on point virtually the entire night offensively, shooting 57.6 percent from the field while drilling 14 3-pointers and dishing out 21 total assists.
The Golden Eagles used a 12-2 run midway through the first half to help build a 51-36 halftime lead. They opened the second half on a 16-4 stretch, capped by a Jugovic 3-pointer to take a 27-point lead, effectively ending any Piedmont comeback aspirations.
Marquise Lanier scored 14 points to lead the Lions. Chase England added 12 points.
