MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Brent Arrington scored 14 points and Ronnye Beamon added 12 to help Morehead State beat NAIA Cincinnati Christian 87-51 in the season opener for both schools Friday night.

Malik Maitland finished with 8 points and nine rebounds while Corban Collins had 9 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Morehead State. Twelve players scored for the Eagles, who made 31 of 57 (54 percent) field goals.

Cincinnati Christian committed five turnovers in its first seven possessions as Morehead State jumped out to a 12-2 lead just more than four minutes into the game.

DJ McCommons hit a 3 and then a jumper to pull CCU within 10:50 left in the first half, but Morehead State responded with an 11-0 run to extend its lead to 31-15 about five minutes later and took a 16-point lead into the break.

McCommons led Cincinnati Christian with 15 points.
